Eleanor and David’s wedding was my first visit to Cahernane House Hotel for a full wedding day – I had been there a few years ago when a bride was getting ready there, and knew it would make a lovely venue for a smaller wedding. With family and close friends with them for the day, Eleanor and David’s wedding was just the type of wedding that Cahernane did indeed prove to be perfect for. Emer and her team took care of every little detail and kept the whole day feeling like the relaxed chilled out affair that the bride and groom had hoped it would be.
Stealing the show on the day were the couple’s beautiful two children Daniel and Isabel who fully immersed themselves in the proceedings and had great fun doing so. Isabel stayed close to her mum during morning prep, just to keep an eye on things, while Daniel was like Lord of the Manor, showing me which room the groom was in and where the best man was getting ready. The way his face lit up when he saw his mum reach the top of the aisle during the outdoor ceremony overlooking the mountains remains one of my favourite moments of the year (and, indeed, one of my favourite photos).
Eleanor wore two dresses on the day – both designed by Irish designer Synan O’Mahony who was at the wedding as one of her close friends. The first dress was for the ceremony, formal photos and drinks reception and as guests sat for dinner Eleanor changed into the second dress for dinner.
I loved exploring the grounds of Cahernane House for the formal photos, but especially for A Shot In The Dark after dinner, and it’s a venue I hope to get back to again and again.
