About Me

I’m a photographer based in Dublin who specializes in photographing weddings and children. Sometimes, if I’m lucky, I even manage to photograph children at weddings.

Wedding Photography

I just love weddings, and I love being able to photograph them. Wedding photographs are some of the most important images in a person’s life, and I have that constantly in mind when I photograph a couple’s big day.

I take a relaxed approach to your wedding photographs, having first met both the bride and groom to find out exactly what you want from your wedding photographs (and who’s who and where’s where). That allows you to get on with enjoying your day without wondering where to go next or who to get for what photograph.

Formal photographs are important, obviously, but with that little bit of pre-planning we get through them in no time at all, allowing you and your families to relax and enjoy the drinks reception for as long as possible. Most of the images I take are informal, showing you and your guests enjoying yourselves, and they are the ones that capture the happiness, joy (and sometimes tears – but usually happy tears!) of the big day.

I travel light – no tripod here – and I dress like a guest, so I can blend and mingle and capture candid shots that will really tell the story of your day.

All of my packages include 300+ post-processed files in high resolution so you can print whatever photographs you want, for whoever wants them. I also create a slideshow of images that tells the story of your day for you to share with family and friends, and when the final shots are ready, they go online in a password-protected gallery for you to choose from for an album. If you want an album, that is. For those who do, I offer a choice of styles and colours. The tricky bit is narrowing down your shots to 70 or so for inclusion in the album.

My standard coverage runs from early in the morning (to keep things relaxed) up until you both sit for dinner, whenever that is. If you’re having speeches before dinner I’ll stay for those. If you’re having speeches after dinner, or want photographs of your first dance, I offer an extended package to include those too.

Child & Family Portraits

Photographing children is great, and best done when it’s not being rushed, so I take as much time as is needed to get images you’ll love, and can travel to your  home and turn your dining room or living room into a studio for a few hours so that your children can be photographed in surroundings that they know.  That helps to get nice relaxed candid shots of your children looking their happiest.  If you’re tight on space you can come to my home studio too, and if it’s a lovely day some photographs out and about at the beach or in the park are always an option too.

I engage well with children and am lucky that, generally, they seem to engage well with me, which makes for photographs that you will be only too happy to put on your walls.  My portrait package is very reasonable, and includes a disc of high resolution images that you can print from for whoever would like prints.  I can source framed prints, canvases and acrylic panels, amongst other products, for very reasonable prices.

My other photography

When I’m not photographing weddings or children, my membership of Dublin Camera Club helps me to expand and improve my creative portfolio in other areas of photography through active participation in the club’s competitions, and I lecture in the club on the topic of composition.  I also regularly run an interactive all-day course on flash photography, which builds on many of the blog posts in my Taking Control of Flash Photography series on this blog.
