I wonder if being decorated with ribbon to match the wedding cars on the morning of a wedding is likely to make a dog feel like part of the family? I’m not sure, judging from this photo, that the Murphy family dog was too happy about the ribbon, but that’s what’s likely to happen when you linger for too long in the garden as the cars are being tended to.  Mind you, such was the activity in the house, the garden wasn’t a bad place to be at times.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen as busy a house as there was while Elaine and her bridesmaids were getting ready to head into the Honan Chapel for her marriage to Enda.  But it was busy in a fun way, with lots of laughter, champagne, tea, hair curlers, balloons… and very nearly a naked bridesmaid (I bet that’s got your attention… I’m afraid I’ve no photos though!). It set the tone (the fun, that is, not the nudity!) for a great wedding. Some (fully-clothed) shots from the morning below, with more to follow tomorrow.

I’m always looking for an “opening” shot for the slideshow, and this was just perfect:

I mentioned at one point to Kayleigh, Elaine’s brother’s girlfriend, that she should be a wedding planner, so I wasn’t surprised to hear that her mother Tracie is in the wedding business.  She designs and makes wedding ring pillows, but also gave Elaine a gift of a dressing gown for the morning.  She has a website too if you’re in the market for such things.

The hair was done by Denise O’Sullivan, who was a star, and did a great job of not being phased by the activity going on around her:

The flowers were by Marian Kelleher, and were, quite simply, stunning:

The dress was even more stunning. One of the nicest I’ve seen to be perfectly honest, and the colour was gorgeous. Elaine’s mother had a very nifty trick involving a fork to help to tie up the back of it too:

And with that, Elaine was ready to go, while at the Honan Chapel in UCC Enda was waiting with his three brothers:

And finally for today, a shot I very nearly missed.  Technically, I missed focus on it, but I’m blaming that on the fact that at that very moment Elaine came as close as I’ve seen a bride come to falling, as she tripped on her way in the gates of the chapel.  Helen’s reaction is priceless, and not a bad focus point for the photo all the same.

More to come tomorrow with images from our stroll around the grounds of UCC  and a couple from the reception at the Ambassador Hotel.

One Response to “Elaine & Enda (Part 1)”

  1. The pictures of Elaine and Enda’s wedding are just beautiful! You are truly a gifted at capturing the moment and telling the story of each shot. It was a such a lovely day for such a special couple. This was our first irish wedding and what a memorable day it was for us! And, we had the pleasure of sitting at the table with the photographer!! Sending our regards from New Jersey and thanks for posting these fabulous pictures.
