I photographed the most wonderful wedding on Friday – one I’ve been looking forward to for months. Logistically things were complicated by the closeness of the wedding day to Aoife’s due date, but with a contigency plan safely in place in the form of my friend and fellow photographer Paul Timon, I arrived in Wicklow a little before 10am to the most relaxed house you could imagine as the girls – Rowena, her sister (and friend of mine) Emma, and Roisin – settled in to the pre-wedding routine of hair, makeup, nails and, of course, breakfast. I’ll blog more about the wedding over the next few days, but in the meantime here are a few favourites from the morning preparations.
Up top near the end of the morning, as Rowena put on the dress, Roisin helped with the finishing touches. Rowena was an excited and relaxed bride, but I love this capture of an expression which I think shows just a hint of nerves creeping in.
The breakfast bar became an impromptu nail bar for the morning as the girls (and Rowena’s brother’s fiancée Rosie) did each others nails:

While the preparations were ongoing, I had time to capture photographs of the stunning dress…

and the shoes and rings…

Emma’s son Donal brought smiles all around for the entire day, and took some time out to check himself out in the mirror:

And finally, for now, as the time approaches to head for the church at least one half of the bridal party is looking fabulous:
